New sign for Middleton's Fish Camp Park
Indian River County, Florida has renamed its Blue Cypress Lake Park to honor Joneal "Joe" Middleton in a ceremony held on March 16, which would have been his 80th birthday.

This photo came to us from our friend, Jim Kitterman, pictured here on the right, with his life-long buddy, Earl Senters, taken on the day of the renaming ceremony.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the event and thank you all for looking out for Jeanne as she continues to run the camp, even without her sweetheart by her side.

The sign reads "Middleton's Fish Camp Park, 7400 Blue Cypress Lake Rd, Indian River County. Dedicated in honor of Joneal "Joe" Middleton, March 16, 1935 - October 18, 2014.

We are so pleased the county has chosen to honor Joe in this way. So, we offer our thanks to Indian River County Parks and the County Commission as well.

We look forward to seeing all our friends real soon!

Park name to change to honor Joe Middleton March 16

A ceremony to change the name of Blue Cypress Lake Park to Middleton's Fish Camp Park will be held at 10 a.m. at  the park on Mar. 16.

The Indian River County Commission voted to change the name of Blue Cypress Lake Park to Middleton's Fish Camp Park to honor Joe Middleton shortly after his death, late last year.

The park has been all spruced up for company! Please come, share our joy, and help us honor the man who devoted his life to recreation, fishing and conservation on Blue Cypress Lake.

Let's go fishing at Blue Cypress Lake!

You might not have noticed, but summer is winding down. Time for you to be casting out and catching some fish! You can fish for Large Mouth Bass, Speckled Perch (Crappie), Bluegills, Shellcrackers and some of the best tasting catfish anywhere!

Middleton's offers a well-stocked bait and tackle store -- in the middle of Nowhere on beautiful Blue Cypress Lake, plus boat rentals, pontoon tours for sight-seeing or photography!

If you don't know anything about fishing, we can hook you up with everything you need. Heck, we can help you find a guide to take you out, bait your hook, and cast your line. All you have to do is reel 'em in!  Your guide will even remove the fish from your line if you like! For some, fishing with a guide is the ONLY way to fish.

If you are more experienced, you will be pleased with our selection of artificial and live baits, ice, beverages, snacks, tackle, boat ramp, restrooms and showers, primitive camping and lodging in mobile homes and lakeside cabins.
